Two regulatory decisions in 2022 and 2023, and what each one states

Published 26 October 2026 · REVIVE LAB UAE Research Desk · 5 min read
The World Anti-Doping Agency prohibited list has a class S0 for pharmacological substances with no current approval by any governmental regulatory health authority for human therapeutic use. From the 2022 list BPC-157 is named explicitly as an example in that class, so it is prohibited at all times in sport. In September 2023 the United States Food and Drug Administration placed BPC-157 in Category 2 of its evaluation of bulk drug substances nominated for use in compounding, meaning the agency identified significant safety risks and the substance may not be used in compounded preparations. Neither decision is a UAE ruling; both are facts about the compound internationally.

The WADA listing

S0 catches substances that are not approved medicines anywhere — discontinued drugs, designer compounds, veterinary-only agents, and research chemicals. Naming BPC-157 as an example followed its growing visibility. The practical effect is that any athlete subject to the code who tests positive for it commits a violation, and that detection methods have been developed. It is the only compound in this pack named under S0; the thymosin component is listed under a different class.

The list is revised annually and the example has been retained since.

The FDA category

Section 503A of the United States food and drug law allows pharmacies to compound from bulk substances on a positive list. Nominated substances are evaluated and placed in Category 1, permitted while under review, or Category 2, not permitted because of identified risks. In 2023 BPC-157 and several other peptides were moved to Category 2, with the agency citing insufficient safety data and risks including immunogenicity and impurity concerns. Compounding pharmacies may not supply it.

The decision concerns compounding for human use; it does not address research-use supply.

Why these are on this page

Because they are the two most consequential regulatory statements about the compound and a reader should know them. The UAE position is on its own page. The pack is a research material and this page states regulatory facts, not advice.

The BPC-157 + TB500 blend is supplied by REVIVE LAB UAE for laboratory research use only, with identity by mass spectrometry and purity by HPLC for each component of the batch. It is not for human or veterinary use, and no dosing, administration or protocol guidance is provided.
