Every human study of GHK-Cu applied it to skin or a wound surface; none injected it. What that record contains and what it does not

Published 26 October 2026 · REVIVE LAB UAE Research Desk · 5 min read
The published human studies of GHK-Cu are of topical preparations: copper peptide creams in small controlled studies of facial skin ageing, reporting improvements in measures such as skin thickness, elasticity and wrinkle scores against vehicle; and copper peptide dressings or gels on wounds, including diabetic and surgical wounds, with mixed results. Most were sponsored by the companies that sold the preparations and were small and short. No peer-reviewed controlled trial of GHK-Cu given by injection to humans exists. The research-grade material in this pack therefore has no human evidence base for any route other than the skin surface, and the topical findings do not transfer to another route.

The topical skin studies

Studies from the late 1990s and 2000s, several associated with ProCyte, applied copper peptide creams to one side of the face against a vehicle or comparator on the other and measured instrumentally and by graders over weeks to months. Reported effects were modest and in the direction of improvement. Independent, larger, unsponsored trials are lacking, and the cosmetic regulatory framework under which the products were sold required none.

The compound is listed as a cosmetic ingredient under the name copper tripeptide-1.

The wound studies

Dressings and gels containing the complex were tested on chronic wounds, including a diabetic ulcer study, with some reporting faster closure and others no difference. The wound-healing research page on this site collects them. They are the only human studies in which the compound reached tissue below the epidermis, through a wound surface.

None was large enough or long enough to establish an effect size the field accepts.

Why it is here

Because the gap between the research-grade pack and the human literature is a gap of route as well as of quality, and a reader should see it plainly. It describes the literature and no use of the pack.

GHK-Cu is supplied by REVIVE LAB UAE for laboratory research use only, with identity by mass spectrometry and purity by HPLC for the batch. It is not for human or veterinary use, and no dosing, administration or protocol guidance is provided.
