Gly-Glu-Pro-Pro-Pro-Gly-Lys-Pro-Ala-Asp-Asp-Ala-Gly-Leu-Val, and what the composition implies

Published 26 October 2026 · REVIVE LAB UAE Research Desk · 5 min read
BPC-157 is the pentadecapeptide GEPPPGKPADDAGLV with a molecular mass of about 1,419 daltons. It has four prolines, three of them consecutive, which stiffen the chain and resist proteolysis. It has two aspartates and a glutamate against a single lysine, giving a net negative charge at neutral pH. It has no cysteine, so no disulfides and no thiol chemistry; no methionine, so no sulfoxide formation; and no tryptophan, tyrosine or phenylalanine, so no absorbance at 280 nanometres. It is, chemically, one of the simplest and most stable peptides in the catalogue.

What is present

The proline triplet at positions 3 to 5 and a fourth proline at 8 give a polyproline character to the first half of the chain. Prolines cannot be cleaved efficiently by most proteases and restrict backbone rotation, which is one reason the peptide survives in gastric juice. Glycines at 1, 6 and 13 add flexibility between the stiff segments. The acidic residues cluster at 10 and 11 with glutamate at 2.

The carboxyl terminus ends Leu-Val, two hydrophobic residues on an otherwise polar chain.

What is absent, and why it matters

No cysteine means no oxidation to disulfide, no scrambling, no reducing-agent sensitivity. No methionine means the commonest peptide oxidation route is unavailable. No aromatic residue means no photosensitivity and no 280 nanometre absorbance, so concentration cannot be read spectrophotometrically at that wavelength and chromatography detects it at 214. The degradation profile is therefore dominated by hydrolysis and deamidation rather than oxidation.

Compared with MOTS-c, which has three oxidisable residues in sixteen, BPC-157 has none in fifteen.

In the blend

BPC-157 is the smaller, more polar and more stable of the two components. It elutes earlier on reversed phase, ionises as a singly or doubly charged ion, and is the component least likely to change on storage.

The BPC-157 + TB500 blend is supplied by REVIVE LAB UAE for laboratory research use only, with identity by mass spectrometry and purity by HPLC for each component of the batch. It is not for human or veterinary use, and no dosing, administration or protocol guidance is provided.
