The one chemical route BPC-157 does have, where the fragment is vulnerable too, and how the two are told apart

Published 26 October 2026 · REVIVE LAB UAE Research Desk · 5 min read
BPC-157 resists oxidation entirely but carries two adjacent aspartates at positions 10 and 11 followed by alanine, a sequence context in which the backbone can cyclise through the aspartate side chain to a succinimide — an aspartimide — that hydrolyses to a mixture of the original aspartate and isoaspartate, where the chain runs through the side chain. The mass does not change, so the product is seen only by chromatography. The thymosin fragment, depending on its exact sequence, carries its own asparagine, aspartate or glutamine sites subject to the same family of reactions. In a blend both sets of products appear in one chromatogram and are assigned to their parent by mass and by comparison with single-component runs.

The chemistry

The side-chain carboxyl of aspartate attacks the backbone amide nitrogen of the next residue, closing a five-membered ring. Water opens the ring at either carbonyl, giving aspartate back or the isoaspartyl form. The reaction is fastest at mildly acidic to neutral pH in solution and slow in the dry solid. Asp-Gly is the most reactive context; Asp-Asp and Asp-Ala are slower but real.

For BPC-157 this is effectively its only intrinsic degradation route.

Detection and assignment

Isoaspartyl peptides elute slightly differently on reversed phase and are resolved by ion exchange or by specific enzymatic methods; the intact aspartimide is seen as a minus-18 mass. In a two-component chromatogram, a new peak is assigned by its mass to one parent or the other, then confirmed by running each component alone. The certificate reports the related substances of each component separately.

Fresh lots show little; solutions held near neutral pH show more over time.

Why it is here

Because the degradation chemistry of the blend is the sum of two profiles, and the BPC-157 half of it is this one route. It describes analytics and no use of the pack.

The BPC-157 + TB500 blend is supplied by REVIVE LAB UAE for laboratory research use only, with identity by mass spectrometry and purity by HPLC for each component of the batch. It is not for human or veterinary use, and no dosing, administration or protocol guidance is provided.
